A brief primer about WordPress and the Divi Theme
What is the Divi Theme? An introduction to the Content Management System or CMS called WordPress is the place we should start. If you haven’t heard of WordPress yet, it is a website operating system of sorts.
WordPress helps create and manage the files that make up the web pages on a website. It allows for interaction with visitors if desired. Forms can be filled out and sent to your email. People can call you with a click of the mouse or tap of a finger.
There are other ways to create websites, but WordPress is a popular option. It simplifies the coding requirements for most designers. It allows us to spend more time on building a good User Experience — UX for short.
Build a great User Experience!
Things like UX, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Keywords, Responsive Design, and other aspects of the digital showcase of a good business website are important for marketing your services or products to consumers.
We want to add content to your site that not only allows you to communicate information in your area of expertise. It should also do it in a way that fits the scope of your industry. It should fit your geographical and geopolitical scopes. It should fit your brand!
This got us off track a little bit but understanding that your website needs to be designed for your audience. It is a marketing tool. You want to reach people searching for solutions that your brand can provide.
To create the web pages that make up the website, WordPress uses templates call Themes. If WordPress is like the website operating system, then themes are the design and page layout tool.
There are free themes and premium “paid” themes available to designers and developers. Or you can create your own theme if you know how to program/code.
Free themes are good for simple blog post sites. Custom websites designed around your individual brand without the expense of writing code is better suited to premium themes.
Themes are where we design and build the web pages making up your site. The Divi Theme is a WordPress Theme built by a third-party developer – Elegant Themes. This Theme includes a Page Builder that allows a web designer leeway to skip the coding of web pages.
Divi Theme is a design tool. Input company content into a layout design and build a responsive website.
